Seventh consecutive Highest Return-on-Equity Award and third Corporate Responsibility recognition underscore brewer's strong financial and ESG performance
SHAH ALAM, 02 October 2026 – Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad ("Carlsberg Malaysia" or "the Company")'s continued focus on creating long-term stakeholder value through business transformation, operational excellence and responsible business practices has earned the brewer double recognition at the prestigious The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2026. The Company secured its seventh consecutive ‘Highest Return-on-Equity’ (ROE) Award in the Consumer Products & Services sector and its third ‘Best Corporate Responsibility (CR) Initiatives’ Award among companies with a market capitalisation of RM1 billion to RM10 billion.
The recognitions reflect Carlsberg Malaysia's continued focus on delivering strong returns for shareholders while creating positive impact throughout its value chain. The Highest ROE Award is based on the Company's three-year ROE performance from 2023 to 2025. According to the Company’s Integrated Annual Report 2025, the brewer reported a return on shareholders' fund of 125.8% in 2025, 134.3% in 2024 and 177.8% in 2023.
Building on its recent upgrade to an ‘AAA’ rating by MSCI ESG Ratings and its 4-Star rating in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index, Carlsberg Malaysia's ESG efforts in impact-driven community engagement and the advancement of human rights practices across its value chain have contributed to its third Best Corporate Responsibility Initiatives Award, following earlier wins in 2014 and 2019.
Commenting on the Awards, Stefano Clini, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, said: "It was an honour to take home two accolades from the prestigious The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Awards 2026 — a proud and humbling moment for all of us. Being recognised with the Highest ROE Award for the seventh consecutive year, alongside the Best CR Initiatives Award for the third time, reflects both the collective efforts of our people and the trust placed in us by our consumers, customers, communities and stakeholders.”
“Cognisant of the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and volatility in capital markets that continue to shape an increasingly challenging operating environment, we will continue to invest in our brands, brewery capabilities and digital transformation initiatives to strengthen business resilience and deliver long-term sustainable value to shareholders and stakeholders,” Clini added.
In addition, the Best CR Initiatives Award reflects Carlsberg Malaysia's efforts in advancing responsible business practices and creating positive impact throughout its value chain. Among the initiatives highlighted was the extension of the Company's responsible sourcing programme to suppliers, covering human and labour rights practices in alignment with Malaysia's National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAPBHR) 2025-2030, alongside the Company's refreshed Human Rights Global Policy.
On the community front, its four-decade long flagship Top Ten Charity Campaign, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country’s highest and longest-running fundraising platform, has marked the RM600 million milestone in 2025, benefiting more than 700 vernacular schools nationwide since its inception in 1987.
"As we continue advancing our ESG ambitions through our Brewing Tomorrow ESG programme, we, together with our partners, are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by helping create better learning environments for students and educators alike through Top Ten. Through ongoing supplier engagement, we are committed to future-proofing our business with people-first, sustainable and ethical business practices," said Pearl Lai, Carlsberg Malaysia’s Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director.
Together, these recognitions for financial and ESG performance reflect Carlsberg Malaysia's commitment to delivering strong returns for shareholders, while creating long-term value for stakeholders and contributing positively to the communities it serves.
