Shah Alam, 4th August 2010- Carlsberg Malaysia won the Green Leadership Award 2010 at the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) presentation ceremony held at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Malaysia Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob.

Carlsberg Malaysia’s Supply Chain Director Mr. Gunnar Hepp received the AREA’s Green Leadership award from Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dr. Fong Chan Onn, Chairman of Enterprise Award. The award was accorded to Carlsberg Malaysia for its robust environment management programme at its brewery and the rigorous 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) practices at the work place. Positive results and impact from the Brewery’s green efforts have earned the Brewery the ‘Green Leadership’ award.

“It is our great pleasure, being the only brewery in Malaysia, to receive the Green Leadership Award. Carlsberg Malaysia constantly monitors our environmental standards and introduces improvement measures to our existing Environment Management System (EMS) to ensure that we are aligned with the Carlsberg Group’s Environment Policy compliance with the local 4th August 2010 environmental legislative and regulations. With this new award, Carlsberg Malaysia has strengthened our position as ‘Probably the Greenest Brewery in Malaysia’,” said Gunnar Hepp.

Carlsberg Malaysia had successfully attained ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System certification in 2008, and in compliance with all the requirements under the Environmental Quality Act 1994.

Enterprise Asia is a non-governmental organization for entrepreneurship and the awards are for individuals and companies who demonstrate leadership, sincerity and on-going commitment in environmental protection, community engagement, corporate responsibility and integrity. Winners of the Awards were identified through quantitative and qualitative areas by an international advisory panel from a diverse field of industrial sectors and authorities. The qualified enterprise must demonstrate sustainable business development, as well as emphasis on their belief and action in supporting responsible entrepreneurship, coupled with initiatives to promote responsible entrepreneurship.
