BULLSEYE! It was truly an event to remember. Over 600 players, supporters and spectators from 9 countries were present at One City Skypark, on the 15th & 16th November at The Ultimate Darting Destination – MSDO Championship 2014 known as THE largest Soft darts competition held in the country and South East Asia. MSDO2014 returns bigger and better this year with a total of 130,000.00MYR prize money and utilizes 70 units of DARTSLIVE2 machines on its second consecutive year.
MSDO2014 kicks off with an opening speech on the journey of soft darts and how it has grown from to what it is today since its maiden introduction back in 2011. It was also highlighted that MSDO is not only a place for competition but it is also a ground for making new friends and a chance for our home grown players to meet their favorite Pro Player from Hong Kong, Philippines, Australia, Thailand and our friendly neighbour Singapore.
On top of various game categories, MSDO2014 also debut “the Malaysia interstate Championship” that gathered the attention of the hall as 8 different State Representatives marched their way proudly accompany by their state flag and battle it out in taking pride to bring home the Inter-State Championship trophy as the ultimate glory.
Asahi “Super Dry” the number one beer in Japan being the main sponsor for MSDO2014,has grace the occasion by deploying various fun games as part of the entertainment platform and giving the patrons and players an opportunity to relax before their next game as well as win limited Edition ASAHI merchandise. The ultimate fun game prize comes as the X-Bull Challenge where 3 of our lucky winners walked away with RM1500 cash prize each.
The highlight of MSDO2014 is The Grand Master Championship which, we witness Singapore Veteran Pro Player Paul Lim; the World Grand Finals Champion 2011, whom is a no stranger to any of us, going against Philippines Pro Player Lourence Illagan; The World Grand Finals Champion 2013. It was a nail biting close fight between the two professionals and every game, every point requires accuracy and strong mental focus. The hall went on a standing ovation and celebration as Lourence Illagan emerged as the Champion and walked home with 18,000.00MYR checking out the deciding game of Cricket. MSDO2014 closes its curtains as another important milestone footprinted in the history of soft darts.
MSDO has grown to become a recognized sort after competition brand platform within the Asia soft darts community. Striving to maintain a World Class Darting Tournament continuously from 2013, MSDO 2015 will set another benchmark for darters around the world including our local darters to mark it as part of their world tour calendar.
